New Nonsense Blog

If you like my writing, and not just the subject, I am starting a new blog. It's going to be a free, all subject blog. I'm going to write science lessons for my son, movie reviews, political pieces, and articles about stem cells and saving cord blood. I'm going to write anything that comes into my head. Hopefully it will be entertaining. Please check it out.

  1. Buy my count, this entry is two years after your last. What did your readers miss while you stopped writing regularly? I enjoy reading your old articles.

  2. Well, I moved into a new phase of life. My boys are 4 and 6 years old. One of them has autism, which requires constant attention and advocacy, and I have a full time union job. I kind of ran out of things to say on homelessness. I keep my toe in on the issue by responding to comments and maintaining the blog, but you are right, I haven't written a full entry in a long time. I still have writing in me, but the issues that move me have changed. I hope some of my readers will follow me to other topics.

  3. Perhaps you should add the link to your other blog in the above post. Good luck with your new blog.

  4. I am not a nitpicky kind of person but I really don't think that OneBag.com qualifies as a site for tips to the homeless.

  5. Same skills are addressed at onebag as are needed for homelessness. If you aren't interested, don't read it.

I am happy to follow your writing to your new blog, but I have this plea: Please don't take the Survival Guide down. I dearly love this blog and go back to re-read it from time to time, and I am sure it continues to help many. On to the next set of adventures!

  8. I'm never going to take this blog down. While there's a blogspot, there's a survival guide to homelessness.

Sorry, there is a part two. STAY STRONG.

That being said, she's not the normal sort of cat. She's part Siamese, which means she's loud, and yet she has a higher ability to retain some sort of semblance to intelligence. I've trained her to play fetch, to hide in my sling pack, and to even walk on a leash. So I’m hoping I can train her to be accustomed to the homeless lifestyle, but I was wondering what you had to say on the matter.
Besides all these grand tips you have floating around on the page, I was wondering if you had any tips specifically for women living this lifestyle. I know I’ll run into things that I HAVE to run into, such as the red crimson tides, but I was thinking if you had any other neat little tricks that will keep me off the "I WANNA TAKE SOMETHING FROM YOU THAT YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO GIVE" radar. I'm currently 22 and I am aware that that makes me more of a target. And I wanted to know if you had anything useful, like sorts of body language tactics I could employ and yet not be singled out at the same time.
Also, I am very curious about the sort of diet you sport. I am aware that being homeless might limit what you eat for a time, which means you’ll have to side with cheaper and almost negatively wholesome foods that most modern chains seem to supply. (*cough cough* McDonald’s *cough cough*) but I was wondering if there was any way I could eat relatively well, without having to eat out of cans and fast food bags. (I’m thinking that eggs will be a good idea, along with peanut butter (the good kind, not the swimming in High Fructose Corn Syrup kind.) and hearty bread as well as raw nuts might be able to keep me afloat until I can grab me some apples or vegetation.) I am also able to note that I will be making surviving far more difficult by having an animal with me, but I was wondering if you had any idea as to what I could feed her when things get tight because I know I’ll be limited on what she can and cannot eat.
Other than that (‘that’ meaning the giant textburg that you just had to endure.) Any other advice you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time! =)

  10. Hi I'm wondering if you know anything about being homeless when youre disabled? I have an invisible disability and I can't do much at all, I wouldnt be able to walk anywhere and I can't work even a little, I've been looking for info but I can't find any. Do you know anything that might help or have any ideas where I can look?

  11. Well I couldn't find a way to contact you so i'll leave you a comment and hopefully you'll read it.

I am a 23yo male, soon going to be homeless(by choice). I am planning on traveling the world rather than staying in one spot. I will be documenting everything via picture and video using one of the upcoming wifi pocket camcorders(free internet) and a small solar charger to keep it running(free power). I was wondering if you would be interested in following my documentation and maybe writing something on it, possibly using my experience on the road to inform others?

  12. You are welcome to contact me at homelessness @gmailDOTcom, as are any of the readers of this blog. The short answer to your question is that it would depend on the content and direction of your project. We'd have to discuss it.

  13. Hello I am 27 year old veteran just out of the Marines. I have decided to go back to school to try and make a change after all that I have seen. My Psych25 college class here in Cali has broken down into groups of 4 and my group has decided that we want to do our report on the homeless either by their own choice or due to economic hardship. It will be a 30 mintue presentation given by me and 3 class mates. We are planning on making a youtube video along with power point. We are looking for people to make contact with who would like to help us out by giving us a insight into your world that we do not have. We really want to make sure this is done accurately. Please feel free to contact me at MilitaryPoliceLady@yahoo.com Thank you for all that take the time to read this.

  15. Hi - I'm working on a performance piece to go along with a traveling art show on Homelessness - most of the scrip is monologues put together from stories people have sent me of themselves or families members who have been homeless from the 1930s to the present. I would also like to pepper the script with some practical advice about living on the street. I'd love to include your tip about shaving using lube - may I include it? I'd be happy to credit you using whatever identification you indicate. Blessings and thanks for considering letting me use your words. - Lizann Bassham www.frontporchspirit.com my email is frontporchspirit@earthlink.net
